Insurance Claims

Insurance claims are never fun—but they don’t have to be hard. We’ll help you achieve the best possible outcome. Our insurance companies will assign an adjuster, and we’ll be there throughout the whole process if you have any questions or concerns.

Whether it’s for home, auto or business, claims need to be addressed by severity. The first thing to do is ensure your own safety and then minimize loss as best you can while an adjuster looks into your situation.

Steps for making a claim:

Step 1:

Ensure everyone is safe

Auto insurance is mandatory by law to protect you against financial loss if you get in an accident. When you enter into a contract with an insurance company, you pay a premium and the company agrees to pay your losses as defined in your policy. Insurance plans will also protect you and the passengers in your vehicle, and anyone else affected by an accident or other event.

Step 2:

Stay Calm

We’re here to help you through this process. Depending on the severity of the damage/loss, use your best judgement to contact us as soon as it’s convenient to do so.

For auto accident claims, try to get the name and telephone number of an independent witness (someone not involved in the incident but who may have seen it). Collect as much information as possible. This includes driver’s licence, licence plate and any insurance and personal information of a third party (if there is one). You will also need to know the vehicle’s make and model. Call the police if damages are estimated to be over $2,000.

For home claims, contact the police if the cause of the loss/damage is a criminal offence. Try to minimize any damage to the best of your ability until a claims representative can help you. For example, if you’re dealing with water damage, turn off your water.

Step 3:

Ensure everyone is safe

Auto insurance is mandatory by law to protect you against financial loss if you get in an accident. When you enter into a contract with an insurance company, you pay a premium and the company agrees to pay your losses as defined in your policy. Insurance plans will also protect you and the passengers in your vehicle, and anyone else affected by an accident or other event.
